ADEME is an industrial and commercial public agency, under the joint supervision of the French Ministries for Ecology and for Higher Education and Research. Its mission is to encourage, supervise, coordinate, facilitate and undertake operations with the aim of protecting the environment and managing energy.
In an expansion of its missions, ADEME has become a key player in the area of sustainable development at the European level. In close collaboration with its supervisory ministers and varied network of partners (ministries and public organizations, local authorities, companies, NGOS and so on), the agency is extending its expertise to emerging and developing countries in addition to industrialized nations.
Envirope and ADEME have been working closely together on a number of projects. ADEME financed the eco-innovation brochure we published in 2007, and Enviropea currently has a contract with them to contribute to the Eurosfaire website, updating news in the Environment and Energy themes. We are currently exploring further possibilities for cooperation.
ATEN (l’atelier technique des espaces naturels)
Created in 1997, ATEN’s mission is to contribute to saving natural species and heritage through the networking and the professionalization of actors.
Its main areas of work include :
- collecting, structuring and disseminating knowledge and methods for the sustainable management of natural zones
- developing planning and evaluation tools for its members
- contributing to the emergence and the recognition of a professional domain of natural zones; clarifying the skills and the trades involved
- gathering and disseminating know-how and favouring professional exchanges at the international level.
Enviropea and ATEN have cooperated together on several projects over the years. For example, Enviropea has organized workshops for members of ATEN concerning funding for some of their projects and ATEN has contributed articles to Enviropea’s newsletter. We worked together to publish a brochure for funding for biodiversity, and Enviropea assisted ATEN in its quest for funding for a project taking place in the French Overseas Departments and Territories.
The CME (Mediterranean Environment Centre) is an association founded in 1989 to diversify the activities initiated by the APARE (Association for Regional Participation and Action) for the environment, combining the spirit of a youth movement and the necessities of an associative entreprise capable of offering a set of services and skills to work on regional issues.
Since 1990, the CME has been developing its activities in terms of environmental education in the Department of the Vaucluse.
The team of the CPIE has given itself two priority objectives:
- raising awareness among children and adults about their environment by bringing them a fresh outlook
- working together to come up with concrete possibilities for improving our way of life
To achieve these objectives, the CME offers an approach that favours discovering the field, the local context and daily life, motivating children to become actors for their own research and projects. This is accomplished thanks to methods that favour a considerate, fun and scientific approach.
The international sector at the CME brings togethers two other NGOs who have combined technical and human resources to carry out joint international services, both of which are based in Isle-sur-la Sorgue:
- The Association for Regional Participation and Action (APARE)
- The European Campus Group (GEC)
The goal of this international service is to develop a network of international cooperation in the field of the environment and sustainable development, expressed through the design and implementation of diverse programmes, through collaborating with numerous partners (local authorities, NGOs, businesses, etc.) in 20 or so countries within the framework of a Euro-Mediterranean partnership.
Cd2e (Creation Development Eco-Enterprises)
The association Cd2e aims to make the environment sector more dynamic in the the Nord Pas-de-Calais Region.
Regional operator in the field of eco-enterprises, development and creation agency, the Cd2e has three main missions:
- support the creation and development of eco-enterprises and of R&D competencies in the field of the environment, and the promotion of these competencies in France and abroad,
- increase knowledge and understanding of the sector (of technological, commercial, strategic and legal aspects) to help foresee major future issues,
- develop a strong and well-structured sector in Nord Pas-de-calais, evidence of the regional competencies in this sector, at the national and international levels.
Enviropea has been a long-time partner of the Cd2e, whom we assist in developing their projects at the European level.
Created in 1995 following the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, the CHEE&DD's goal is to strengthen the strategic comprehension of political leaders in the field of sustainable development.
Entirely dedicacted to this theme, the CHEE & DD organises a session composed of 20 thematic days each year that combine economics, hard sciences, sociologie, strategic management, law and philosopy. spread out over 7 months by a group of about 20 auditors coming from all walks of society (business leaders, sustainable development policy-makers, upper-level civil servants, leaders of associations, unions, etc.). Its ambition is to offer the participants a transversal vision of sustainable development, through the variety of sthe presenters and their various fields of expertise.
Enviropea participates regularly in the days that concern European policy for sustainable development.
FRB (French Foundation for Research on Biodiversity)
The FRB was launched in February 2008. It fuses two organisations, the French Biodiversity Institute and the Bureau of Genetic Resources, bringing together public research organisations, environmental associations, conservationists and businesses in order to take on the challenges posed by biodiversity loss.
The FRB’smain mission will be to support and lead research activities and disseminate their results, as well as to carry out other information and communication activities and awareness raising. It will also fund biodiversity projects through calls for proposals.
The FRB and Enviropea have had the opportunity to work together on numerous projects, including a brochure about funding for biodiversity (also in partnership with ATEN) and regularly share their experience and expertise in view of future cooperation.
The MEEDDM is the French governmental institution in charge of environmental, energy and land planning policy. It works on five major themes :
- housing, sustainable land planning and natural resources
- energy and climate
- sustainable development
- risk prevention
- infrastructure and transportation
Since 2005, Enviropea has been the technical assistance team for the Ministry, in charge of reviewing French proposals for the LIFE (now LIFE +) programmes before they are sent to the Commission for selection. The Ministry has also provided funding for several projects Enviropea has worked on, such as the publication of a guide to European funding in the field of the environment and brochures on policies and funding for biodiversity and climate and change.
